Sample Student Evaluation

The 298 student seminar series provides students with the opportunity to gain experience in the various aspects of seminar presentation and critical analysis of experimental data. In addition to immediate verbal feedback following your seminar, faculty are asked to complete a detailed, constructive critique in the form of a written final evaluation for each student. One copy of the evaluation will be sent to you and one to your department two to three weeks after the last class meeting. The following areas will be considered:

1. Scientific content of seminar, including:
a) Understanding of the problem
b) Critical analysis of data

2. Presentation of seminar, including:
a) Audibility, pace of talk, boardwork, visual aids
b) Response to questions

3. Contribution to class discussion, including:
a) Willingness to participate, ask questions, offer constructive criticism
b) Understanding of scientific ideas and topics discussed in class

Should you have any questions regarding course expectations, please feel free to consult the instructor(s).
